Growing up, I was always fascinated by the healing powers of traditional medicine, which I witnessed firsthand through my grandmother’s use of shamanism and herbal remedies. This inspired me to pursue a career in pharmacy.
During my first pregnancy, I envisioned establishing a business that not only served a communal need but also contributed positively to the well-being of others. Juggling a full-time job as a retail Pharmacist and awaiting the arrival of my first child, I believed I had the time to embark on this venture. The inclusion of chicken herbs in my business plans arose during the pregnancy.
At that juncture, while uncertain about the specifics of my business venture, I was steadfast in my commitment to preserving our cultural heritage for the benefit of my children. Regrettably, commencing a business proved more intricate than anticipated. Despite having a well-formulated business plan by the time my baby arrived, no further steps were taken. However, inspired by postpartum experiences and the utilization of chicken herbs, I contemplated how to render these herbs available year-round and facilitate convenient storage and usage, leading to the inception of dried chicken herbs.
My Mission
I started Mi Maiv as a platform for sharing and learning about the Hmong culture and its holistic approach to healing. I believe that cultural preservation is essential for keeping these traditions alive and passing them on to future generations. But it’s not just about preserving the past – I also wanted to make it easier for people to access traditional herbs, which are an important part of many Hmong dishes and healing practices.
I know firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate the world of traditional medicine on your own, so I created Mi Maiv to provide a community and a resource for anyone interested in learning more. I hope you find the resources on our platform helpful and inspiring, and that together we can keep these important cultural traditions alive and thriving.
