Mi Maiv: A Journey of Healing and Cultural Preservation

Established in 2020
Growing up, I was captivated by the incredible healing powers of traditional medicine. My grandmother's use of shamanism and herbal remedies left a lasting impression on me, and I was amazed by the way these ancient practices could bring people together and promote well-being. This fascination sparked my passion for a career in pharmacy, where I could help others and honor my family's traditions.
As I prepared for the arrival of my first child, I began to dream of creating a business that would not only meet a community need but also make a positive impact on people's lives. Balancing my full-time job as a retail pharmacist and awaiting the birth of my baby, I thought I had the perfect opportunity to turn this vision into reality. It was during this time that I started thinking about incorporating chicken herbs into my plans. Although I wasn't entirely sure what my business would look like, I was determined to preserve our cultural heritage for my children.
However, starting a business proved to be more complex than I anticipated. Despite having a solid plan in place by the time my baby arrived, I didn't take the next steps. But as I navigated the challenges of postpartum life, I found myself relying on chicken herbs more than ever. This experience inspired me to figure out how to make these herbs available year-round, easy to store, and simple to use. And that's how the idea of dried chicken herbs was born.

My Mission
I started Mi Maiv as a platform for sharing and learning about the Hmong culture and its holistic approach to healing. I believe that cultural preservation is essential for keeping these traditions alive and passing them on to future generations. But it’s not just about preserving the past – I also wanted to make it easier for people to access traditional herbs, which are an important part of many Hmong dishes and healing practices.
I know firsthand how challenging it can be to navigate the world of traditional medicine on your own, so I created Mi Maiv to provide a community and a resource for anyone interested in learning more. I hope you find the resources on our platform helpful and inspiring, and that together we can keep these important cultural traditions alive and thriving.

The Future of Mi Maiv
At Mi Maiv, the journey doesn’t stop here. Using the knowledge I’ve gained so far, I’m committed to expanding this platform as a resource for education and cultural preservation. Whether it’s teaching the use of traditional herbs or sharing time-honored practices, I believe that by preserving these traditions, we’re also keeping the memories of our ancestors alive.
Building this platform has been a challenge, especially as someone who isn’t tech-savvy. But with the incredible support of Hmong Network, I’ve been able to bring my vision to life in ways I never thought possible. Looking ahead, I’m excited to continue helping others honor the legacies of their mothers, grandmothers, and foremothers. Together, we can ensure these cherished traditions thrive for generations to come.
